Oh boy, Feng Zhiwei, born in 1939 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, was a little genius from get-go. In 1951, he scored highest in his entrance exam and went to Kunming No.1 Middle School. Then in 1957, he got into Peking University!

At Peking University, he first studied earth chemistry, but n, one day, while browsing library, he stumbled upon this paper by some American linguist called Chomsky about three models of language description. It was like a light bulb went off in his head, and in 1959, he decided to switch from science to literature, and started studying Chinese language.，就这？

Then, in 1964, he went to Chinese Department of Peking University to study linguistics. And guess what? He even learned English, French, German, Russian, Japanese, and more to read original oretical linguistic works. That's like super rare, y'know?，切中要害。

After college entrance examination was restored in 1978, he was so good at physics and math that he decided to switch again. This time, he left literature behind and went to study information science at University of Science and Technology of China. In 1981, he went to study at Automatic Translation Center of Applied Mamatics Institute of University of Grenoble, France. When he came back, this linguist turned into a software engineer and became head of machine translation research group at China Science and Technology Information Institute. Because he knew both language and computers, in 1985, he took on role of director of Computation Language Research Laboratory at Institute of Language and Literature Application of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.，拖进度。
